I was hoping to use GetAround for errands in the city. The first rental was okay; the owner was late both in dropping off and picking up, but the rental process was smooth. The second rental involved their useless app, which didn't let me open the car. I phoned the owner of the car, and apparently there is nothing he can do, from his end. He said he would cancel the reservation, but didn't do this, so I was charged for the rental. I complained to GetAround, and they did not do anything (they hung up on me when I phoned and didn't reply to emails,) except to say that I would be charged for the rental. Wont use them again.
Worst experience ever. Owner fabricated a charge and there was nothing I could do about it because everything is virtual. They're simply not set up to run tightly. Took $100 clean out my account with no real merit

A guest stole my 2020 Jeep 37 hours ago! Getaround has not returned any of my calls!
The police will do nothing since it was a rental with Getaround.
It's Covid 19 the law states that the car is supposed to be clean and sanitize the car was dirty smelling and had weed and ashes all over I sent pictures of the nasty car y'all charge $100 fine if someone leave the car dirty and $300 fine if it's smoking in the car so why am I not being compensated for picking up the car in these nasty conditions and the do not look like the pictures y'all advertise it's scratches and dents and dirt all over the car I'm calling my bank and disputed these charges it's Covid 19 the law states the car supposed to be Clean sanitized and in safe conditions that is the law I'm being charged all these charges but not compensated for being subjected to a dirty beat up car I'm calling my bank to dispute the charges and 311 to report y'all not following the Covid 19 guidelines
Great App. It makes the life easy for the people who don't want to possess cars.
I reserved a car for same day travel by accident, then canceled. Lost 100% of my money, even though the car was only reserved for a few minutes. Getaround could really update their cancellation policy for same day rentals to be fair to both renters and owners.
I bought a hotel room this with this website and they been nothing but the biggest piece of nothing they took my money I didn't stay in this hotel and I still have my money I said yes and he wanted to see says to not book anything with this cricket company nothing but thieves just like the hotel stay away from this websiteyeah I have a numbers and I have not called us back with nothing I just want to keep our money and we didn't stay in this hotel so with that being said I don't know how is that even possible that you guys can just steal somebody's money when we can stay there but I'm going to find out and I'm not going to stop in sorry about the spelling but all I'm trying to get it I thought you guys got my money it's been a week now I didn't stay in this hotel one night not at all and you guys got my money still so and you guys have my number and my fiancé's number and you guys have not called back so from what I see is you guys a bunch of thieves
The Getaround service is fantastic, but ther app doesn't match the quality of the service. I'm constantly finding myself frustrated with their app's check-in and check-out flow.
Extremely dirty car - had to abandon my plans for the day since the car was unusable
Been using Getaround off and on for almost 10 years. My only hope would be that the process could be more mainstream, so you could get more cars. Otherwise it is a terrific idea
Any customer service issue I have ever had has always been addressed fast and professionally. I have no complaints at all! Getaround has been a wonderful service.
I love using Getaround.. I can get a car for 2 hours or days depending on availability.. I have my favorite go to Kia a couple of blocks away.. I would and have recommended it to friends..
The system got my account canceled for no reasons.

Scam! This app is surely a scam! And very fraudulent! Use turo of Zipcar. This app and customer service is terrible.

FRUSTRATED CAR OWNER (11 Cars)
NOT PAID ON SMOKE/ODOR/STENCH/TRASHED CARS/BODY DAMAGE CLAIMS ETC.!
GETAROUND IS
FAST/QUICK TO APPROVE & BRING ABUSIVE RENTERS TO US, CAR OWNERS, ON BOARD THE PLATFORM;
BUT EXTREMELY SLOW TO PROCESS AND PAY FOR DAMAGES CAUSED BY THEM, IF PAID AT ALL...!
HOW DO SOME OF THESE NASTY, FILTHY, DIRTY, ABUSIVE, AND DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE GET QUALIFIED TO USE AND ABUSE OUR PERSONAL VEHICLES?
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS?

This could not have been handled worse.
I asked about relocating my car on Getaround in February. The initial agent assured me this was an 'easy task' and deactivated my listing.
After providing the updated address, I received zero acknowledgement and no response for 10 days. When I messaged to followup on the lack of response, Jessica replied stating the address and location were updated but it appeared the car wasn't at the home location.
I verified the car showed at the new address through the app and replied to confirm.
After receiving zero acknowledgment or response for ANOTHER TEN DAYS, I called and the agent said he'd message Jessica. She replied and reactivated the listing at the new address and offered to waive $20 Connect fees for one month.
I responded that $20 was inadequate given the 20 days delay in responding and handling what was explained as an 'easy task' wasn't sufficient.
After zero acknowledgment or response for another 11 DAYS this time, I called and replied to the message thread. The agent on the call said the ticket had been reassigned and that Jessica was no longer with the company and the new person hadn't addressed the ticket yet.
Evidently this was a lie as Jessica then replied to the thread with a message she would escalate this to the 'internal team' to see what compensation could be offered beyond waiving $20.
Yet ANOTHER WEEK later and I had to call in again because there was zero followup. A supposed "manager" replied and said waving the Connect fee was the best they could do.
Not only is the lack of acknowledgment and followup on service egregious, but Getaround's shocking lack of management prevented my car from being rentable for at least 20 days (conservatively that's about $300 given the car's earnings history.)
Customers shouldn't have to endure sketchy customer service, being blatantly lied to (Jessica still works there), or most egregious end up foregoing rental income due to the company's lack of workflow management and follow through on customer service.
Getaround should be avoided at all costs. This unfortunately wasn't the first similar issue over more than two year in terms of response times, lies, and costing me income. Quite honestly this company deserves to go out of business for the way it handles the owners of the cars that generate it's revenue.
In the end, I had stated my claim for $300 and called repeatedly only to be assured the manager Mitchell would be messaged and reach out to me directly.
No one could bother to make contact and handle the issues raised so I have terminated my rental with Getaround and shared the above with anyone who has business with the company.
The simplest followup would have consisted of a community manager calling to say "I'm sorry we f'd up. Here's what we can do to fix it." and offer some compensation more in alignment with my actual loss of income due to their inability to handle service.
